LONESOME LUKE LOSES PATIENTS |
Pathé,
1917. Directed by Hal Roach. Camera: Walter Lundin. With
Harold Lloyd,
Bebe Daniels, Snub Pollard, Sammy Brooks. |
Luke runs a sanitarium for the idle rich. The nurses are so pretty that
the patrons actually enjoy being sick. A certain rich man, hearing
of this, throws a fit to get in; his wife does take him in. He slips Luke
a hundred dollar bill to tell his wife that he is, indeed, sick. When
assured that there are only male attendants, she leaves. She returns
later, to deliver a care package for her hubby, but forgets her handbag when
leaving.
When she goes back for it suddenly, she surprises the staff of
lovely female nurses. She decides to get even, by returning as a man; a
riot ensues and most everyone in the place ends up in the swimming pool, with
Luke at the bottom.
