A young man who loses his interest in women and everything else.  In order to escape from the life he has, he sets off on his small boat, "Cupid," but encounters the whaling ship 'The Love Nest' and its merciless captain (Joe Roberts), who throws his crew members overboard for even the slightest offense.

After disposing of his steward for accidentally pouring hot tea over his hand, the captain hires Keaton as his replacement who, despite a series of mishaps, manages to avoid punishment.
